The BYOBF Network announces the launch of the women’s networking organization in Vancouver on March 29, 2012 and masalamommas is proud to be a supporter for this event!

As South Asian women in Vancouver and surrounding communities, they face significant changes in the world of business. They are discovering networking with other South Asian women to be one of the most valuable marketing tools for strengthening business contacts and connections.

The Be Your Own Best Friend (BYOBF) Network is happy to bring networking for South Asian Professional Women to Vancouver, founded by Sukhi Ghuman, former television host and marketing specialist, and Manpreet Dhillon, business coach and certified Akashic Records Consultant. In 2005, both Sukhi and Manpreet met through volunteering their time as Directors of the not-for-profit Vancouver International Bhangra Celebration (VIBC) Society. They now host the largest bhangra festival in North America with numerous events taking place over the course of eleven days. Sukhi Ghuman is also a professional photographer and works with the University of British Columbia as a Marketing and Events Coordinator. Manpreet launched her Into Essence Coaching business in 2011, after a lengthy service at the University of British Columbia and has a Masters Degree in Organizational Management.

Both Sukhi and Manpreet saw the need to create a platform for professional South Asian women to come together to network and support one another. Sukhi explains, “BYOBF Network is geared towards women in home-based businesses, in offices, entrepreneurs, mothers, and those exploring new opportunities.” The BYOBF Network co-founder Sukhi Ghuman said, “This is an amazing communication tool that helps one increase revenue by providing opportunities to meet and sell products, discuss services to new and recurring prospects and decreasing costs by meeting new suppliers and building partnerships.”

Manpreet Dhillon is dedicated to helping South Asian females connect, create meaningful relationships, grow and succeed. Manpreet states, “I love to encourage women to believe in themselves and their ability to succeed in any role they play in their lives. BYOBF empowers women and allows us all to grow as we connect. BYOBF not only provides the perfect opportunity to meet like-minded professional South Asian Women but also shares each other’s success.”

BYOBF Network plans to host monthly networking events and workshops on various topics their members are interested in learning more about. Where many networking groups are about numbers, BYOBF is about creating intimate, quality, meaningful relationships.

“The mission of BYOBF is to support, encourage and challenge other women to strive for continued growth and strength through every facet of their lives,” says co-founder Manpreet Dhillon. BYOBF will also launch an online community providing their members with a platform to publish blog posts on various topics that include lifestyle, health, money, spirituality and mothers.

The official launch and first networking event for BYOBF will be held on Thursday, March 29 at 8:00pm at Ginger 62 in Vancouver, BC. Sukhi Ghuman is ecstatic about bringing this concept to fruition. “It is our commitment to be an organization that offers connections, resources and inspiration for Vancouver’s South Asian women. We have been overwhelmed by community support and are proud to have Jugni Style, Studio Orange Photography + Design, High Society, masalamommas and Neets Treats sponsor our first event.”
