If you are planning on hosting a party at home, or just want to be more comfortable at the dinner party that you RSVP-ed to already, mixing some wardrobe staples with some fun pieces may be the perfect formula. Pull out the classics when thinking of how to make a sequinned skirt fun and festive, but not over the top for a more low key celebration this year. A fine knit black turtleneck, a classic red lip and a pair of gold hoop earrings can make any sequinned skirt house party ready for this New year’s Eve. Just add a pair of fun flats, and you are ready to dance the night away.

If you are planning for a fun night out by partying it up in style, don’t forget that New Year’s Eve calls for all of the glamour you can muster. So when getting ready to paint the town red, take out that fancy party dress that this occasion calls for. Such as a full sequinned dress that you love and pair it with your favourite fancy high heels. Then accessorize with all things bling and dramatic makeup such as a bold lip or smokey eye. After all, this is the one night of the year where you are meant to sparkle, sparkle, sparkle!

If you are looking to stay low-key and comfortable, and plan on throwing on your pj’s the as quickly as possible after the clock strikes midnight, opt for a comfy, yet chic look.  Elevate your look from those comfy sweats or PJs by styling vegan leather leggings with an oversized sweater or top. Leather leggings are comfortable, stylish and versatile and works with an oversized top. Bonus points if your top has sequins, it is, after all, a celebration of the end of the past year and welcoming of a new year ahead!

A more sophisticated evening out may call for a cocktail dress, but try out a jumpsuit instead. Look for fabrics that flow in your jumpsuit that makes it versatile for any season (this one I’ve worn all 4 seasons!). To elevate the jumpsuit and to get a pant suit look, add a blazer on top.  Look for a blazer in a deep jewel tone colour, or in fabrics such as velvet or brocade, or when in doubt pile on the sequins.  But if you don’t have a jumpsuit, you can easily dress up a simple black dress with a blazer.

Wearing your favourite fancy blouse can be taken up a few notches like this velvet, animal print top. Pull out your favourite blouse be it silk, jewelled coloured, velvet, animal print or sequinned, and pair it with a pair of classic pants such as a cropped cigarette style or a long, wide-legged version, or even with your favourite dark skinny jeans.  Then add some sparkly heels, a deep lip colour and statement earrings or a statement necklace for an easy, sophisticated party look. However way you choose to ring in the New Year’s eve, we are Masala Mommas wish you and your family a healthy, happy 2020!
