We hope, unlike us, you have not been in denial that Fall 2014 is already here. And if you too haven’t yet prepared for the coming change in weather then this is the post for you!. Here are the fall must haves to get you excited about layering again. These pieces are a staple and would easily transition into winter as well as future fall seasons to come. Below you’ll find the my favourite items plus places to ‘splurge’ or get them at a ‘steal.’ Places from Nordstrom’s to Macy’s to JCrew, we’ve got you covered!
A Trench coat is a fall classic. Although first developed in the late 1800s for First World War soldiers, trench coats have since then remained fashionable over the decades. No wardrobe is complete without one. You can get one in tan, grey or white and layer its over leggings, jeans or even dresses.
2) Leather Moto Jacket
Again history states that the early leather moto-jackets were adapted from the soldiers, pilots and tank corps gear following World War I. But today they are worn by top celebrities and models as a fashion statement. This is one investment piece which never goes out of fashion and can be worn day-to-night and layered over practically everything.
3) Boots
This year the boots are back with a vengeance. Every style you can think of, is in! From tall flats with rounded toes, stacked heels and wedges, knee-high boots, to riding boots. All of them have found a place on the runway and fall must have lists of stylists. But if you had to pick just one I would suggest the riding boots or the knee-high boots. They will always stay in style, hence making them an investment piece.
4) Scarves
The nip in the air calls for some neck warmers. Time to bring out the oversized scarves, snoods, and infinity loops. Layering your fall outfits with scarves helps you elevate your style with functionality and warmth.
5) Skinny Pants / Leggings
Skinny pants or leggings are go-to bottoms for fall. They are easy to style from day to night, for example for a casual look go for a simple t-shirt and a statement sneaker. And for a formal look or a date night pair them with a killer heel (or boots) and a dressy blouse.
With a few updates to your wardrobe you will be fall- ready in no time. If you have a fall must have that you would add to this list please feel free to let us know in the comments below.
