Put Hope on the Map This Diwali

diwali_rotator-newsroomV2

diwali_rotator-newsroomV2This year, Diyas for Hope is encouraging masalamommas everywhere to “light” a virtual diya in honor  and support of the children living in SOS Villages in India and everywhere

Diwali is celebrated. All you need to “light” a diya is an email address and zip code, a donation is not required. By lighting a diya, you honor an SOS child and will have the opportunity to learn more about the children they support. Diwali reminds celebrants of the victory of good over evil, light over darkness, and hope over despair. The children at SOS Children’s Villages in India participate in the festival because they, perhaps more than anyone else, know how important hope truly is.

Please share your virtual diya by tweeting using hashtag  #diyas4hope

The Diwali Campaign is SOS Children’s Villages largest fundraising and awareness campaign for Villages in India. SOS Children’s Villages creates permanent, loving families for orphaned and abandoned children. They provide caring and trained mothers who give individual attention and guidance to each child until they become an independent adult. They support more than 80,000 children in 500 Villages across 133 countries, including India. Through their outreach programs, they impact the lives of over 1 million people each year.

In India, they raise over 5,000 children in our 41 SOS Children’s Villages, where each child grows up in a loving, stable home.  Their outreach efforts include building schools, medical centers and programs to strengthen the entire community. Education, healthcare, and loving bonds that last a lifetime are all a part of the SOS Children’s Villages model.
