It’s back to school this week and kids are a priority but what about you? Summer camping, BBQ and outdoor activities with the kiddies may have taken a toll on your skin and maybe even your hair.

The sun gives us warmth and makes us feel happy and lively but while doing so damage is occurring that you may not even know about.

The big question is Did YOU wear your sunscreen? Most of us haven’t therefore resulted in hyper pigmentation or even more damage than we think. We do have a couple more months with the sun, so let’s be proactive as much as we can.

While you are running around with your children you may not have time to book in spa time, perhaps while the children are napping your downtime can include some homecare solutions. Open up your fridge and you will discover many new ways to use your fruits, oils and produce.

Papaya and Pineapple Enzyme Mask

Benefits: Papaya and Pineapple are hugely popular in spa’s and skin care products also known as AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acid). AHA benefits the skin by providing anti aging care, gentle exfoliation and instantly rejuvenates the tone and texture of your skin and wrinkles. This at home mask is much more cost effective and doesn’t have harsh chemicals like most skin care products do.

How to: Simply slice up the Papaya and Pineapple (removing the skin on both fruits) add to blender, if you don’t have a blender you can mash the fruit up with a fork. Apply to face for 10min and splash off with cold water. You will have a tingling sensation afterwards, which is a good sign, as the enzymes are doing their magic. If you have breakouts add a squeeze of lemon to assist in zapping your zits.

Hair:

bigstock-Beauty-Portrait-7808719Honey I am home: Conditioner/Mask

Benefits: Sun Damage hair leaves us with dry brittle ends and texture. This usually occurs when time spent in the pool or on the beach during the summer months.  Share this amazing Conditioner with other Masalamommas while you are away for the weekend cottaging.

Steps: You will need Honey, Avacado, Olive Oil, Egg.  In a bowl add ½ cup of honey, 2 tsbp of Oilve Oil, 1 Egg and ½ Avacado, mix contents and apply to damp hair. Allow the mixture to sit in your hair for 15min. Rinse out with luke warm to cold water. This can be done once a month to add hydration, protein and keratin back into your hair follicles.

Enjoy these at home treatments and don’t forget to drink your water to stay hydrated and to maintain great skin and hair.

Cheers,
