If you’re mulling over whether to enrol your child in an early education program or thinking about switching him or her into another one, doing your homework is key.

Here are 5 Tips on picking the right centre for your little one:

1) Make a check list of your priorities. Does the school align with your values?

2) Do your research. Is it accredited?

3) Visit the centre on a day when school’s in

4) Will your child like it? see if the school has an open house and take your child with you

5) Check references; don’t just rely on a first visit. Then get on the wait list.

Safari Kid, a new centre in Richmond Hill Ontario and a long-standing history in the US, with  9 successful locations in California offers children aged 2 ½ to 5 customized programs tailored to the student.

The centre’s programs are not designed by age groups but by their learning capacity. Teachers start by first evaluating a child and enrol him/her in the program that is most suited for their current level. Every child graduating from Safari Kid program are fluent readers.

Public speaking, Chess and Computers are an important part of all the programs and the centre gives each child several opportunities to master and perform in front of a large audience.

Safari Kid’s Accelerated Learning Programs are designed to provide:

A positive learning environment

Collaboration among children

Contextual learning

Accelerated Learning 1 Preschool Program

Safari Kid accepts enrolments for children 2 years and older (and they do not have to be potty trained). We stimulate their minds with interactive learning, songs, poems, creative play and circle time. Children are introduced to the basic concepts of phonics, numbers, shapes, colors, beginning sounds, reading, logical thinking, tracing, public speaking, math and much more. This program is specifically designed to build a strong foundation for your child.

Accelerated Learning 2 Preschool/Pre-K Program

Children are introduced to Reading, Math, and Science, Social Studies along with Arts & Crafts, Music & Movement and Public Speaking. As they progress through these levels, they are taught advanced concepts of reading, writing, math, critical/logical thinking and much more. Students graduating from this program are fluent readers and have the capacity to do first and/or second grade math and comprehensions depending on their learning abilities.

Their two Accelerated Learning programs are further divided into 4 different levels which has been an effective way of focusing on your child’s progress. Staff will go over these levels in detail in your first meeting.

Parent-Teacher meetings are held every quarter to discuss a child’s progress.

The school’s preschool program from aged 2-5 has a focus on reading, phonics, gross motor skills, arts and more. An afterschool program is also available for Kindergarten through grade 6.
