MM Travel Tips & Picks

MM Dreams

Ottawa Marriott: Centrally located on Kent street, the Marriott was the perfect spot for Masalamommas to dream. Most rooms offer a great view of the canal and the city which makes your room a perfect place to be at sunset or sunrise. Socially addicted Masalamommas will love the “WIFI should be like air : Free and everywhere” mantra and those travelling with kids will find the kids entertainment room to be a blessing! From toddlers to teens there’s plenty of play areas, toys, video games, basketball, hockey nets and more to keep them busy, perhaps under Dad’s supervision, leaving you with some major relaxation time!

MM Bites

IMG_3664The Shore Club : A fabulous spot in downtown Ottawa for some steaks, seafood and cocktails.  If you’re looking for something upscale with a baby friendly touch, this is your spot! Friendly service with fresh seafood and hearty steaks to satisfy every appetite.

Beaver Tails : You know you can’t visit Ottawa and not indulge in these Canadian awesomeness right? A must visit when you’re in Byward Market.

Fresco Bistro : Stop by for a casual Sunday brunch, with a fusion of breakfast options in addition to the regular eggs and bacon, it’s a great spot for couples and families. Got to try one of their smoothies or Caesars!

MM Explores

Museum of Civilization: One of the more popular museums, based across the canal in Gatineau, takes guests through Canadian history including a peek into the lives of Canadian ancestors who helped shape Canada and compose the cultural identity Canada boasts today.

Children’s Museum: This is a kid’s delight! Little ones can tour around the world through the various displays and activities. From East Asian night markets and the pyramids to Pakistani style buses and Sri Lankan road signs, no plane ticket is needed to teach the kids all about the different cultures.

Mosaika Light and Sound Show on Parliament Hill: If the summer weather is on your side and the kids don’t have early bed times, catch this awesome light show which takes you through the narration of Canada through the eyes of the people. Something to be said about watching a spectacular light show projected onto the Parliament building under the starry sky with a mass of tourists and locals.

Sunset cruise on the Rideau Canal: A truly simple, scenic and casual way to absorb the sights and sounds of Ottawa. Of course if it’s winter, you’ll be skating instead of cruising the canal! IMG_3212
