Anjum Choudhry Nayyar

Anjum, a mother of two, has been a TV journalist for over 12 years and a communications specialist and freelance writer for over 15 years. She began her career in Chicago, where as a Masters Journalism student at Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism, she covered the juvenile court house in the city’s south west side. Anjum has worked behind and in front of the camera at Toronto local and national stations and as a reporter/back up anchor. She is the winner of several awards including the runner-up Journalism Award for Excellence in Women’s Health Reporting from the Society of Gynecologists of Canada for her story on “Breast Cancer Misconceptions in the South Asian Community,” as well as Best News Story 2004 from Toronto EMS for her story on its multilingual emergency services. She has appeared on Canada AM, Global News Toronto Morning Show, CBC 's the National, CBC Metro Morning, CHCH and other networks as a parenting and lifestyle expert.

Nisha is a mom on a mission to recreate traditional recipes that she grew up with. She has a penchant for Indian food + culture and is a self taught food photographer. Her favorites include recipes that are passed down through generations and a hot cup of cardamom chai. Her recipes have been featured in several magazines around the globe including, ScoopWhoop and ParentsCircle. She has also interviewed world renowned chefs such as Vikas Khanna, Sanjeev Kapoor and Maneet Chauhan. Kajal Desai

Kajal began her professional career as an Organizational Management Consultant with a Masters Degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology. She was able to use and build upon those skills when she co-founded Doonya, a Bollywood dance and fitness company, with Priya Pandya in 2005. In developing Doonya’s curriculum, dance style and fitness formula, her goal was to standardize the technique around Bollywood dance so that it correctly translated into fitness media, classes and training programs. Through her role at Doonya, Kajal has presented and appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show, Dr. Oz Show, LIVE with Kelly and Michael, The Today Show with Kathie Lee and Hoda, and Great Day Houston. Kajal shifted her fitness focus to pregnancy and motherhood in 2015, when she was expecting her son and has since worked with moms on pre and post-natal exercise and mental wellbeing. Though Kajal is no longer running the Doonya business, she still teaches and trains other instructors in the program. She also continues her work in overall health, fitness, wellness, and dance through various platforms in the Houston area.
Renu Jain Chandarana

Renu Jain Chandarana has a love for writing and sharing her ideas with her community. Her education includes an English degree from The University of British Columbia and a postgraduate Applied Arts degree in Radio and Television Arts from Ryerson University. Her professional career includes writing, producing and coordinating documentary entertainment television shows in Canada as well as on air and voice over work. She has coordinated over 100 documentary TV shoots. Shows she worked on have aired on CBC, HGTV, Food Network Canada, Discovery Health, Rogers TV, E! Canada and Omni TV. In her spare time she taught fitness dance classes at the gym. After having two children, Renu decided to take a step back from the time sensitive nature of television production and focus on staying home to raise her daughters. Sitting idle in her spare time isn’t her strong suit so she began freelance writing with in 2012. Renu has also re-directed her professional career to focus on communications in the non-profit sector. She sits on the board of a local charity and is their communications coordinator. She is also a partner with a social venture investment firm that helps build up small grassroots charities from the inside out. Her passions include raising her two daughters, volunteering, baking, cake decorating, working out, dancing, travelling, socializing, cooking and eating. Renu hopes that with her articles, readers can add a little spice to their life!
