As September creeps closer, I start to stress about all the “stuff” that has to get bought, done and set up before the first week of school. Our trips to the mall these last few weeks as we got ready for a big family wedding have involved detouring into stores where school supplies are in abundance! Not only are we in back to school season, but my daughter and son’s birthdays are also in October and December respectively so this cycle of months are really the most stressful.
After a long summer with a few road trips and getaways to US, I do find I’m not the only one watching my credit card bills, because before you know it, it will be Diwali, then Christmas…
In fact, according to a recent survey by Sears Canada, sixty-six percent of Canadian parents feel financially strained at back-to-school time.
As the new school year approaches, it brings with it as much stress and anxiety for parents as it does for kids. It means rifling through malls for supplies, new clothes and countless other necessities. Believe it or not, parents just like kids suffer from the Back-To-School Blues.
Kids want to dress to impress when they head back to class. But a new study conducted by Sears Canada shows that almost half of Canadian parents don’t feel very comfortable choosing clothes for their kids and 63% think trendy clothes are expensive.
And it’s no wonder.
Most parents spend $121.00 or more on one single back-to-school outfit for their kids. According to nearly one in five parents, back-to-school time means a bill of more than $400.00 per child.
At that rate, it’s no surprise that parents feel a financial pinch every September.
Sears Canada has created affordable, stylish top-to-toe outfits for $65 and under. That means everything from tops to bottoms to backpacks and shoes. This year, parents don’t have to break the bank to keep their kids in the latest trends.
