Manish Malhotra  presented his festive collection celebrating 100 years of Indian Cinema. The collection was showcased at an Annual Gala on the 28th of September, 2013 at Grosvenor House in London at 9 pm. Bollywood actresses’ Bipasha Basu and Esha Gupta walked the ramp for Manish.

Malhotra’s celebration of 100 years of Indian cinema at the Annual Gala was graced with the presence of Gurinder Chadha, Anurag Kashyap, Fardeen Khan with his wife Natasha, Pamela Grover and Rekha Tourani.

An ardent fan of the movies, Manish recreated the magic of past decades for the runway. The collection was inspired by eras of fashion in Indian Cinema, from 1913 to 2013. It paid homage to the distinctive sartorial identity of every iconic period in Indian cinema.

Speaking about his love for cinema and passion for fashion, Manish comments, Cinema has been a part of my life and work for 23 years now and the essence of it reflects in my creations.  When I got this meaningful opportunity to celebrate 100 years of cinema, I had to embrace it and showcase a memorable collection reflecting my equal love for cinema and fashion.

The collection had simple and clean cuts, making it relevant to a specific vintage, yet keeping it wearable and stylish today, too. Embellishments included sequins and Kashmiri embroidery. The color palette chosen by Manish for this collection ranges from black & white, which reflected the earlier years to a wide array of deep summer hues on chiffons, georgette, silks and net fabrics.
